Jan 29, 2010

– Jan 28, 2010 – Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle stopped at Surface Mount Technology Corp., 5660 Technology Circle, Grand Chute, an electronics manufacturer planning a $2.5 million expansion that will add 36 new positions over a three-year span.

"This is exactly the kind of company and kind of business we want to grow and prosper in Wisconsin," he said.

The company, founded in 1997, employs about 100 people. It designs, assembles and tests products for industrial controls plus military, medical and automotive markets.

The state will provide $158,000 in tax credits toward the project. Chris Sumnicht, president and chief executive officer, said the firm incorporated the incentives into a multi-pronged financing package. Doyle said the state assistance will help "make the expansion a little more doable. But I really want to say to Chris and the leadership team, you're the ones that are really making the financial commitment and we're very thankful for it and glad we could be a part of it."
