ATE China 2011 Draws to Successful Close

Oct 12, 2011

Three-Day Exposition of Electronics Assembly and Packaging Technologies Is a Triumph

ATE China 2011, organized by Reed Exhibitions and held at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center with NEPCON South China 2011, recently came to a close.  The dual event covered an exhibition area of 37,500 sqm and attracted more than 500 local and international electronics manufacturers to showcase their new innovations.  These exhibitors debuted new technologies and equipment to a record-high 26,374 visitors from the electronics manufacturing industry.

During the three-day event, a full range of new electronics assembly and packaging equipment was displayed.  The exhibits comprised mainly automatic assembly systems, robots, machine vision products, transfer devices and assembly system materials, as well as test and measurement systems.  Also covered were the electronics assembly and packaging processing solutions for consumer electronics, home appliances, computers, LED, communication equipment, automobile electronics and their related industries.

South China is one of the world’s fastest growing areas for electronics manufacturing, assembly and packaging. With increasing labor costs and growing shortages of manpower, the reduction of both is a primary concern for manufacturers looking to increase production.  Therefore, new cost-saving technologies, like robots and machine vision, are a particular industry focus.

A key part of industrial automation systems, robots and machine vision have grown in popularity as the industry has trended towards even greater automation in recent years.  So much so that they already enjoy widespread use in semiconductors, ICs, LCD, consumer electronics, printing, pharmaceuticals, automobile manufacturing and mechanical processing.

In China’s micro-electronics manufacturing sector, semiconductors, as well as automobile, medical and communication electronics, have enjoyed sustained technical innovation and rapid production growth.  This is because local companies have an increasing demand for anti-static products and services. Alongside the anti-static exhibition area on-site, the Anti-static Tech Forum, jointly organized by the China Electronic Instrument Industry Association’s Antistatic Device Committee and the Shanghai and Shenzhen Electrostatic Protective Industrial Associations, attracted more than 150 attendees.

At ATE China 2011, Sumida, Fukucima, Zoma Robot, Mingseal, Cognex, Mento, OGP, Sunshine Vision, Microscan, Optirom, Bochuang, Function, Servo Dynamics, Beijing Microview, Can-Rill and Gemmy-Tek were among numerous vendors to demonstrate new products and technologies in the machine vision segment.

Zhu Gangqi, Deputy GM of Fukucima, said, “Visitors from the electronics manufacturing industry are now focused on optimizing production procedures, improving efficiency and lowering labor costs. To replace repetitive manual processes, Fukucima has introduced an automatic dispenser series, in line with the prevailing trend toward greater automation in electronics manufacturing.

ATE China 2011, an annual event in China’s electronics assembly and packaging industry, welcomed visiting delegations from numerous companies, including Zhaohe Electronics Factory, BYD Company Limited, Sanhesheng Electronics Factory, Shili Electronics Factory, Dongguan Lanchuang Jietejia Electronics Factory, LG Innotek, Dongguan New Technology Development and Huawei Technologies.

The electronics manufacturers agreed that ATE China 2011 was a representative industry showcase of state-of-the-art innovations and solutions for reducing labor costs and improving production line efficiency.

Zheng Tingyong, Head of Equipment Management for Zhuhai Gree Electric Appliances said, “We brought 80 representatives to the show to learn about key technologies, product performance and new industry trends. Cutting labor costs is our key concern.” Zhong Xishun, Chairman of Shenzhen Huazhipu Electronics, added, “This is the best place for us to get up-to-date and in-depth information on hi-tech products.
