Cogiscan to Demonstrate New RFID-based PCB Traceability Solution at the IPC APEX EXPO

Jan 14, 2013

Cogiscan Inc., the leading track, trace and control solutions provider for the electronics manufacturing industry, will exhibit the Murata MAGICSTRAP ®for Printed Circuit Board RFID Tracking Integrated with Cogiscan TTC Middleware in booth #609 at the upcoming IPC APEX EXPO, scheduled to take place February 19-21, 2013 at the San Diego Convention Center in California. The innovative solution was developed in collaboration with Murata, a worldwide leader in ceramic passive components.

The joint Murata-Cogiscan solution expands on standard PCB tracking by utilizing UHF RFID technology, which provides a read-writable data repository on the PCB and allows faster, more reliable scanning.  Since RFID does not require the typical line-of-sight visibility of a barcode, the solution also allows tracking of the finished goods through the supply chain and for customer service and field support.

The seamless integration of Murata's RFID technology with the industry's leading track and trace platform by Cogiscan represents the first time RFID tracking of circuit boards is made available as a plug-and-play technology, greatly simplifying and accelerating the integration with standard factory software systems.

Cogiscan partners with leading equipment manufacturers and electronics assemblers to create solutions that can integrate with existing systems to provide factory-wide TTC solutions. The company is committed to the development and continuous improvement of solutions to Track, Trace and Control materials and tools on and off the shop floor. Murata is a worldwide leader in ceramic passive components. Murata has developed an innovative product called MAGISTRAP ® that, when mounted on a printed circuit board, can act as a passive UHF Gen2 RFID tag, allowing the PCB and in some cases the higher-level assemblies and products that comprise this PCB to be uniquely identified and tracked for a variety of purposes.  For more information, visit www.murataamericas.com/rfid.
