Personally I'd take a Metcal MX500 over a 130W JBC every day, and we had hundreds at the last place. However, here we have lots of JBC's, and my engineers and solderers swear by them. Both are good irons and like any you need to get your tip choice

What is the advantage of dispensing dots over dispensing a line? I don't see any reason why dots wouldn't work. You might have to experiment a bit to dial in the right volume and spacing to get the desired end result, but it shouldn't be hard. Fisna
