Application of environmental chambers in electronic industry

With the continuous development and innovation of electronic products, consumers have increasingly high requirements for their performance and reliability. In order to ensure the normal operation of products in various extreme environments, electronics manufacturers need to carry out a series of environmental tests. These tests are designed to simulate the performance of the product under environmental factors such as temperature, humidity, vibration, shock, and evaluate its reliability and durability in actual use.

The electronics industry includes:

Investment products such as electronic computers, communication machines, radar, instrumentation, and electronic special equipment are the means and equipment for the development and transformation of the national economy.

Electronic component products and special materials industry, including picture tubes, integrated circuits, various high frequency magnetic materials, semiconductor materials and high frequency insulation materials.

The consumer goods industry, including television sets, voice recorders, video recorders, etc., is mainly for improving people's living standards.

Common electronic industry environmental testing chambers

Temperature and humidity chamber

Temperature (-73~180℃) : high temperature, low temperature, temperature cycle, rapid temperature change, thermal shock, etc., check the storage and operation performance of electronic products (materials) in hot or cold environments, check whether the specimen will be damaged or function reduced. Use a temperature test chamber to test them.

Temperature and humidity (-73~180, 10%~98%RH) : high temperature and high humidity, high temperature and low humidity, low temperature and low humidity, temperature and humidity cycle, check the storage and operation performance of electronic products (materials) placed in the temperature and humidity environment, check whether the specimen will be damaged or function decline.

Pressure (mbar) : 300,000, 50,000, 10000, 5000, 2000, 1300, 1060, 840, 700, 530, 300, 200; Test the storage and use performance of electronic products (materials) under different pressure environments, and check whether the specimen will be damaged or functional decline.

Rain test (IPx1~IPX9K) : simulate different degrees of rainy environment, measure the rainproof function of the sample shell, and investigate the function of the sample during and after rain. The rain test chamber works here

Dust (IP 5x ip6x) : Simulate the dust environment, measure the dust protection function of the sample housing, and investigate the function of the sample when exposed to dust and after exposure.

Mechanical environment test

① Vibration: The actual vibration situation is more complex. It may be a simple sinusoidal vibration, or a complex random vibration, or even a sinusoidal vibration superimposed by random vibration. We use a vibration laboratory for testing.

② Impact and collision: Electronic products are often damaged by collisions during transportation and use, so crash test equipment is needed.

(3) Free drop test: Electronic products will accidentally fall during use and transportation

Chemical environment test

① Salt spray: chloride liquid particles suspended in the air are called salt spray. Salt spray can travel 30-50 kilometers from the sea to the coast in the wind. The sedimentation on ships and islands can reach more than 5 ml/cm2 per day. Salt spray testing using a salt spray test chamber is used to evaluate the resistance of metal materials, metal coatings, paints or coatings of electronic components to salt spray corrosion.

② Ozone: Ozone is harmful to electronic products. Ozone test chamber simulates and strengthens the conditions of ozone, studies the effect of ozone on rubber, and then takes effective anti-aging measures to improve the service life of rubber products.

③ Sulfur dioxide, hydrogen sulfide, ammonia, nitrogen and oxides: in the chemical industry sector, including mines, fertilizers, medicine, rubber, etc., the air contains many corrosive gases, the main components are sulfur dioxide, hydrogen sulfide, ammonia, nitrogen oxides and so on. These substances will form acidic and alkaline gases under humid conditions, damaging various electronic products.
